Skye's Puppies (2nd litter)
Skye gave birth to eight beautiful puppies on 19th March 2008. We have now homed all of the litter apart from 'Honey' who has an injured leg. We believe that one of the older dogs sat on her and damaged a nerve to her rear right leg.
Skye has called them Foxglove (golden dog), Bracken and Bramble (chocolate dogs), Lily (chocolate bitch), Tulip, Snowdrop and Daffodil (golden bitches) and Orchid (a black bitch). They have been registered with the Kennel Club which means that not only can you be assured of their pedigree and that they are at a low risk of genetic problems but you also get six weeks insurance (when you transfer their registration to your name).. These names are not compulsory for future owners - many people ignore the registered names and use their own. We are Kennel Club Accredited Breeders which assures potential owners that not only are these puppies top quality but that we are conscientious breeders.
This is Skye's second litter. She was mated with Weymouth Harbour Master, affectionately known as 'Tully', an American chocolate lab owned by Christine Harris of Rooklane Labradors. He has a hip score of 3:3, Skye has a hip score of 5:4. Both have clear eyes. Skye was mated with this same sire 2 years ago and produced nine excellent puppies. Tully has been DNA tested for prcd-PRA and is clear of it (as is Skye's sire), this means that none of this litter could be affected by prcd-PRA (a genetic disease that affects the eyes of many breeds of dog).
Skye has been brought up as a family pet and lives indoors. Skye is the most active and intelligent labarador I know (without an ounce of bias :) - she loves swimming, running, fetching and learning tricks. Her puppies live with her in the kitchen - these are not kennel dogs. We also own Skye's dam and 'aunt' - all three are wonderfully friendly labs. The puppies are used to children and have been cuddled and handled from birth.
They will be available from around the 1st to the 14th of May (depending on how mature they are - some puppies mature quicker than others). We also want to spread out the puppies leaving so that Skye won't be distressed by them all leaving at once.
If you are interested in owning one of her puppies you will need to contact us as soon as possible, they have now been published on the Kennel Club site and we have had a lot of interest. You can email us or call 07787 505007.
